Dr. Young has over 30 years working with healthcare professionals, consumers and policy makers. He has studied and published research on disparity in trust and satisfaction in healthcare and offers methods that can be used to predict and respond to healthcare consumer behaviors. He has a passion for helping providers design services that exceed the needs of consumers from ethnographically diverse communities allowing them to maximize their revenue stream and organizational performance. He is also passionate about helping consumers improve their skills in healthcare communications, literacy and provider engagement.

He has developed a number of motivational and interactive programs to help consumers embrace the value of taking control of their health
and healthcare. He also offers unique training on how to motivate healthcare consumers to use their beliefs, values and cultures to maximize satisfaction, outcomes and provider engagements. He has worked with a number of organizations, including the United States Congress on strategic initiatives for improving the value proposition for healthcare consumers and providers

Dr. Young holds a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master Degree in Business Management and earned a Doctorate Degree in Organizational Performance and Strategic Leadership. He is the former Chairman of the Board of
Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit, member of the Detroit and Western Michigan Chapters of the National Association of Health Services Executives, member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated and is a reviewer for manuscript submissions to the Journal of Healthcare for the Poor and Underserved published by Johns Hopkins University and Meharry Medical College.

Dr. Young is Assistant Faculty at the University of Phoenix in the schools of Healthcare, Business Administration and Humanities and currently serves on the Healthcare Administration Academic Council. Dr. Young is also an Adjunct Professor at Davenport University where he teaches Capstone courses in Business Administration.

His teaching philosophy is “bring the real world into the classroom and making learning relevant.” He is a former member of the Financial Committee for St. Augustines College, Raleigh NC and earned an Honorable Discharge from the United States Military.
